Fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers is combined with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to form investment decisions with a total return objective. The Fixed Income Department is headquartered in Merrimack, NH and also has employees in London. The Position Fidelity is looking to hire a Quantitative Research Analyst to join its Fixed Income Division in Merrimack, NH. This individual will analyze and model fixed income securities and work with portfolio managers and traders in the investment process of managing Fidelity’s mutual funds and client accounts. Responsibilities: • Develop quantitative models and tools to value and analyze risks in securities and portfolios. • Engage with the Portfolio Managers and Traders and take part in security selection and portfolio construction. • Make investment recommendations and explain the rationale. • Take initiative and demonstrate leadership skills to contribute to the advancement of the investment process. • Collaborate with other Quantitative Analysts/Associates and Developers in the division. • Explain complex concepts to non-technical people. • Publish research methodologies and results in a way that is easy to understand. • Be pragmatic about approaches to modeling and push for his/her implementation into the portfolios. Qualifications: • Deep understanding of math/statistics is required. Specifically, proficiency in stochastic processes, linear algebra, optimization theory, numerical methods and statistical analysis is necessary. • Knowledge of fixed income securities and valuation, and work experience in the fixed income environment is required. • Experience in modeling Credit, High Yield, and Emerging Markets securities is preferred. • Demonstrated experience / expertise in problem solving is required. Some programming experience in C, C++ or Excel VBA is helpful. Knowledge of Matlab, Splus and relational databases are a strong plus. • Very strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working in a team environment.
